By Former Montgomery police chief poised to take over U-S marshal post
Montgomery, AL – - Arthur Baylor is set to take over as
U.S. marshal for the Middle District of Alabama adter six years as
police chief in Montgomery.
Baylor was nominated by President Barack Obama for the position
in April and was confirmed by the Senate in August. He's scheduled
be sworn in on Tuesday.
Baylor joined the Montgomery Police Department in 1977. He moved
up through the ranks from patrol officer to major before retiring
in 1998 to become judicial security coordinator for the state.
He was hired as chief of police in 2004.
Colonel Kevin Murray will serve as Montgomery's acting police chief until a permanent replacement is named.
