Friday Night Lights Week 9 Preview

The Montgomery Advertiser

As temperatures drop and the brisk fall weather continues each week it feels more and more like playoff football here in the state of Alabama.

We kick off this edition of our Friday Night Lights series with the Carver Wolverines dropping their 3rd consecutive game as they lose to the Eufaula Tigers 20-7 last night at Crampton Bowl.

As for tonight’s match-ups I will say in advance the proverbial football corners will be busy tonight as we have some lopsided games on the schedule. 7-1 Luverne will host 0-7 Calhoun, 7-0 Lanett travels to 1-7 Verbena, and 6-1 St. James welcomes 0-8 Prattville Christian.

Other notable games: 4-4 Lanier vs. 1-6 Calera, 5-3 Selma is at 4-4 Wetumpka, 4-3 Trinity battles with 2-5 Ashford at home, the Lee Generals coming off 2 straight losses tries to get back on track vs. 2-5 Enterprise, 6-1 Prattville is home against 5-2 Auburn, 4-3 Greenville vs. 1-6 Wilcox Central, 0-7 BTW Tuskegee is at 4-3 ACA, and 3-4 Chilton County locks horns with 5-2 Marbury.

In the fight to stay undefeated 8-0 Pike Road hosts 5-3 Montgomery Academy, the 8-0 Catholic Knights prepares for battle with 6-2 T.R. Miller, and Reeltown at 8-0 takes on 2-5 Vincent.

In our WVAS game of the week the class 6A 11th ranked Stanhope Elmore Mustangs at 7-1 play host to the 5th ranked Opelika Bulldogs currently at 6-1 in a huge class 6A conference game at the Foshee-Henderson Stadium in Millbrook.

Be sure to tune in Monday as we recap the weekend with the Friday Night Lights Week 9 Review.
