Women and Family Support Legislation

A new law went into effect in Alabama yesterday will provide tax exemptions for baby supplies and menstrual products.

Under the terms of House Bill 152, shoppers who purchase items like baby formula, diapers, maternity clothing and feminine hygiene products will not have to pay state sales or use taxes.

Sponsors of the bill say the goal of the legislation is to provide more support for women and families.
