Groundbreaking ceremony in Montgomery

Groundbreaking ceremonies were held in Montgomery Thursday, to mark the beginning of construction on a new Intermodal Container Transfer Terminal.

The facility, which is being funded by the Alabama Port Authority and CSX Railroad, will allow trucks and rail cars to connect inland before moving on the Port of Mobile. The 277-acre facility will be located on Mobile Highway in Montgomery, with direct access to I-85 and U.S. Highway 31.

As a News Director at WVAS-FM, Melanie leads her team to produce award- winning newscasts and talk shows. Her professional achievements includes News Reporter of the Year for a number of years and awards for talk show producer, by the Alabama Broadcasters Association and the Associated Press. She is an active member of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce. Her goals are to expand the reach of WVAS FM into more homes locally, regionally and nationally.
