Former UPS Employee's Deadly Rampage

Still no names released in the fatal shootings at UPS warehouse in Birmingham.  Police are saying the man who killed two people and himself had been fired from the company just a day earlier.  Lt. Sean Edwards confirmed that one of the victims had been a supervisor at the warehouse.  The gunman had reportedly been wearing a UPS uniform at the time of the shooting.

CAVHCS Town Hall

Emotions ran high at a town hall meeting Tuesday hosted by the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System.  The goal of the event is to re-establish trust in the performance of the veteran's assistance agency. Dr. Robin Jackson recently stepped in as the acting director of CAVHCS and says he's committed to capitalizing on opportunities of growth.  Many veterans in attendance like Jeff Colt said only time will tell if new leadership will make a difference.  Overall veterans said Tuesday's town hall was a step in the right direction but more needs to be done.

New Phase

The search for a new police chief in Montgomery is moving to a new phase now that only one of the three internal candidates remains as a viable possibility. Montgomery Public Safety Director Chris Murphy said yesterday that one candidate withdrew from consideration and there were qualification questions surrounding another.  Murphy doesn't expect the police department to miss a beat even with a more extended timeframe.  The same vetting committee composed of law enforcement and Montgomery citizens will be used in the expanded search.
