Montgomery Woman Faces Murder Charge

A former Montgomery woman faces murder charges in the death of a 23-month-old child earlier this year.  Police say 33-year-old Natasha Cottrell was arrested in Florence.  An autopsy report found sings of physical assault and trauma on the boy's body.  Authorities say Cottrell was a friend of the child's family and that he and his sibling had been staying with her.  The child was reported unresponsive on April 16th and taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.  Cottrell is being held without bond in the Montgomery Count Detention Facility.

Illegal Moonshine

Liquor agents in Alabama are searching for the operator of an illegal moonshine still found in an abandoned shed about 15 miles south of Montgomery.  Investigators could smell sour mash once they arrived and saw moonshining equipment.  After getting a search warrant, the agents found a seven-barrel whiskey still.

Parking Available

City officials are trying to overcome the perception that there isn't enough parking in downtown Montgomery.  The Director of General Services for the city Steve Jones says 2,500 parking spaces are available within a quarter-mile of Riverfront attractions.  He contends that many residents simply don't use the five parking decks that are free to the public during weekends.
