Alabama's Tax Amnesty Program Brought

Montgomery, AL – (AP) - Alabama's tax amnesty program brought in
more than $8.1 million.
The program called Operation Clean Slate ran Feb. 1-May 15. The
state Department of Revenue reports that more than 3,100
individuals and companies used it, and more money came in from
businesses than individuals.
Deputy Revenue Commissioner Mike Mason said state officials are
pleased with the results. He said no one knew what to expect
because it was the first time the state had waived tax penalties
since 1984. That program 25 years ago brought in $3 million.
