New Top Cop For Montgomery

His name is Ernest Finley, the veteran law enforcement officer and former deputy police chief in Atlanta will be named the new Montgomery police chief today.  Finley will join Mayor Todd Strange and other city officials at a news conference set for 4 p.m. at City Hall.  

New ASU Coach

Brian Jenkins has agreed to become ASU's new head football coach following a successful run at Bethune-Cookman.  Interim Athletic Director Melvin Hines announced the Jenkins' hiring Tuesday.  Jenkins posted a 46-13 record in five seasons with the Wildcats.  University officials will introduce Jenkins this afternoon at 3 p.m. at the new ASU stadium.  

Montgomery Fatality

State Troopers say a Montgomery County woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on U.S. 31.  Troopers said 37-year-old Salley Dorsey of Ramar died when the car she was a passenger in was struck by a tractor-trailer.  The accident happened just after 8 a.m. Tuesday.  Troopers said Dorsey was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.  The driver of the car, 65-year-old Brenda Ludlum of Lapine and another passenger were injured.  

Father Arrested 

The State Bureau of Investigation says a Prichard man has been arrested in the death of his 8-year-old daughter who was found on a deserted city road in mid-September.  38-year-old Hiawatha Robinson was arrested Tuesday on charges of murder and first-degree sodomy.  Investigators said the body of 8-year-old Hiawayi Robinson if Prichard was found on a road behind an abandoned building two days after she was reported missing on September 16th.  Federal charges are also pending against Robinson who is being hedl in the Mobile Metro Jail.
