Steris Corporation announced today an 11 million dollar economic investment in its Montgomery location.  Dave Johnson, vice president of global operations says the company's reshoring initiative, which is bringing jobs back to the United States, will lead to dozens of new jobs.

Heat Warning

Forecasters at the National Weather Service say the temperatures are only getting hotter across Alabama.  Meteorologists have issued an excessive heat warning for the state's central counties.  Forecasters are expecting record highs to exceed 100 plus degrees in central counties. 

Campfires Banned

Alabama's dry weather has prompted the U.S. Forest Service to ban the use of campfires in Alabama's four national forests except in developed recreation sites.  A spokesman says the restrictions apply to the Tuskegee, Bankhead, Conecuh and Talladega national forests. 

Cheaper Gas

Gasoline and oil prices continue their downward spiral.  According to auto club, Triple A, the nationwide average for gasoline prices dropped 57 cents in less than three months. 

Dothan Shooting

The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened Thursday in Dothan.  Dothan Police Chief Greg Benton says the shooting began with a short police pursuit around 4 p.m. Thursday.

New Commander

Maxwell Air Force Base and Gunter Annex has a new commander, he's Colonel Trent Edwards.  A change in command ceremony was held Thursday at the base.  Colonel Edwards will oversee all functions on Maxwell-Gunter that support Air University and the 908th Airlift Wing.
