By Police dismiss felony charge, but says reporter to face misdeameanor offense
Montgomery, AL – - Montgomery police say a felony charge
against television reporter Eileen Jones has been dropped.
Jones, a reporter for WSFA, was charged with assault and escape.
Police said she allegedly ran over an officer's foot and drove off
after being arrested.
Montgomery police say they consulted with the district
attorney's office and decided that even though probable cause
existed, it was best to drop the felony charge.
Police say Jones was reporting on a tanker truck accident
earlier this month and drove over an officer's foot after a brief
exchange.
She has said it doesn't seem likely she could have run over the
officer's foot without noticing.
