SEC Presidential Primary

A ceremonial signing was held Wednesday by Governor Robert Bentley for a bill that would move Alabama's presidential primary to March 1st, 2016.  Alabama now joins the states of Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia on that date, creating what's being labeled the SEC presidential primary.  Secretary of State John Merrill says the state will benefit both politically and economically.  Merrill is also hopeful the earlier primary date will spur voter interest and encourage more residents to vote.

Housing Scam

There is another scam circulating across the nation.  Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange is warning consumers about a Section 8 housing scam.  Strange and the Federal Trade Commission are getting the word out warning Alabamians to be wary of fraudulent solicitations and websites that copy registration sites for Section 8 waiting list lotteries.  Scam artists are taking fees and personal information from unsuspecting victims.  The AG and the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development say there is no fee for a Section 8 waiting list.

Quarterback Back

The Seattle Seahawks are bringing back their backup quarterback after agreeing to terms with NFL veteran and former Alabama State standout Tarvaris Jackson.  Details of Jackson's deal were not released by the team.  But it's an important signing for Seattle, which had just two quarterbacks on its roster: starter Russell Wilson and second-year free agent signing R.J. Archer.  Jackson, a Montgomery native, will spend his fourth season with the Seahawks.
