Ida B. Wells' Battle to Uncover the Truth is a one hour program produced by the independent public radio and podcast group Humankind. The program examines the life of Wells who emerged as a powerful investigative journalist after the civil war. She was one of the firsts to publish documented accounts of lynhcings across the country. Guest commentary is provided by N.Y.

Jazz Hall of Famer, Mr. Fred Wesley recently had a phone interview with WVAS program director Jay Holcey detailing his ties to WVAS and Alabama State University. The insightful interview details his time working with the Godfather of Soul, James Brown in the 1960s and 1970s and how he got his start with Parliament-Funkadelic. Wesley's love for the trombone still remains consistent and he reassures Holcey that he still has his pipes.
