November 13,2008 – Consumers are enjoying lower gas prices with regular unleaded gasoline at its lowest amounts around the state since 2006. AAA Alabama is offering tips to get the best mileage possible.

Former Covington County Probate Judge Sherrie Phillips must serve three years in prison followed by three years of probation for her ethics and theft convictions.
Phillips was convicted in a case involving $1.8 million taken from an estate her office was handling. She claimed she borrowed nearly $517,000, but returned all but $917 when the attorney general's office issued a subpoena for records of the estate.

Two special events are set today discussing the historic election of Barack Obama as the next President. First, political figures, civil rights activists and students will gather, beginning at Noon, in the Levi Watkins Learning Center's Special Collections area to reflect on the accomplishment. Later today, ASU Political Science Professor, Dr. Sharron Herron, will lead a discussion on the 2008 local and national elections at 4:00 p.m., room 202, Trenholm Hall.
