State Schools Superintendent Eric Mackey weighed in yesterday on the accreditation report given to Montgomery Public Schools earlier this week. Mackey labeled the review by accrediting agency AdvancED as “one of the worst he’s ever seen.”
AdvancED changed the Montgomery Public School Systems status to “under review” after several months of interviews, in-class observations and inspection of MPS documents. Mackey says his team must move quickly. A representative of AdvancED told the Montgomery Board of Education that the system must show improvement by December if it wants to keep its accreditation.
