WVAS is celebrating its 35th anniversary on Saturday, June 15th. As part of the occasion, the station will honor Dr. John F. Knight for his tenacity in making the station a reality. The station is also paying tribute to former long-time commentator, Roy Wood Sr., for his contributions to the station as well as the broadcasting profession. Wood Jr. is currently a correspondent on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" with Trevor Noah. He has a comedy pilot in the works for the same network called "Jefferson Country: Probation." The WVAS anniversary event takes place at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome banquet room from 6-9 pm. The public is invited. Tickets are $35 and tables are $280. Sponsorships are also available for $3,500.
