April Schedule of Events

April has been designated as Jazz Appreciation Month and Public Radio Music Month. WVAS-FM has scheduled several special features to air throughout the month.

On April 12th tune in for a one hour special saluting Herbie Hancock on his birthday during Jazz at Nite.

Friday, April 13th has been designated as Jazz Day In America. Join WVAS-FM for a very lunchtime concert featuring Jilla Webb and Kurt McKinney with special guests The E.D. Nixon Elementary School Choir broadcast live from 12:00 until 1:00PM .

Tune into Bill Boyntons' SwingTown on Sunday, April 22nd for a musical salute to Charles Mingus on his birthday.

On April 25th we salute Ella Fitzgerald on her birthday during Jazz at Nite with Milton Shirdan.

We begin our Spring Membership Campaign on April 27th through May 1st. This is your chance to renew your membership, become a member, or tell a friend about the programming at WVAS-FM.

Edward Kennedy Ellington was born on April 29, 1899. Listen to Bill Boyntons' SwingTown on that day for a one hour salute to the life and music of "The Duke".
