It is finally here. Labor Day Classic Week has begun at Alabama State University. A special added component this year is the inauguration of the school’s 15th president, Dr. Quinton Ross. A full slate of events for the week kicked off over the weekend with the First Family Luncheon at the John Garrick Hardy Student Center Ballroom Sunday. Tonight, in the Dunn-Oliver Acadome, ASU’s SGA President will be sworn in. A fun event taking place later this week is the National Alumni Association Labor Day Golf Classic. The inauguration of Dr. Ross is set for Thursday at 10am in the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
Other events for the week include an HBCU Symposium, Interfaith Assembly, the inaugural ball (which is already sold out), Mighty Marching Hornets Reunion and Paver Installation, a pep rally, the Friday night concert featuring Bell Biv Devoe and, of course, the football game Saturday. Tuskegee and ASU do battle at 5pm at Hornet Stadium. The activities conclude Sunday with the Battle of the Bands at 2pm - also at the Stadium - and the fourth annual Nat King Cole Society Jazz Festival at the Riverwalk Amphitheater, which begins at 4
