Gov. Robert Bentley has signed a "No Burn Order," prohibiting all outdoor burning for 46 counties in north and central Alabama. The No Burn Order makes it illegal for anyone to start a fire or have an open flame, including something as a campfire, in any forest, grassy area or wooded area. Anyone caught starting a fire in one of the 46 counties could be charged by police and face a fine of $250-$500. There is also a possibility that the person could face a 6-month jail sentence.
