An adult female is dead after being shot by Montgomery police yesterday when she reportedly tried to run over approaching officers. Police had received a report of a stolen vehicle in the Chisolm community around 11:30am
Spokesperson for the department Capt. Regina Duckett told reporters that as they arrived on the scene, two officers walked toward a vehicle in the 100 block of Kiwanis Street. The driver is alleged to have driven into one of the officers, dragging that person underneath the vehicle. The other officer reportedly opened fire, killing the woman. The injured police officer was taken to an area hospital with what are described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Following department protocol the two officers are being placed on administrative leave. As in all cases in which department personnel discharge a firearm, the State Bureau of Investigation is now handling the case.
