Judge declares mistrial after witness murdered outside courthouse

A witness in an attempted murder case was shot to death outside the Montgomery Courthouse Monday just moments after testifying. Now the judge in the case has declared a mistrial. Montgomery police say 31 year old Kelvin Cooley was fatally shot after leaving the courthouse on South Lawrence street Monday by 25 year old Jocephus Boone. Cooley had just completed testimony in the trial of Jacquees Boone, accused of killing Cooley’s brother Alondre in 2014. The two Boones are also brothers. Jocephus Boone is now charged with capital murder in Monday’s shooting. Montgomery County Circuit Judge Roman Shaul has declared a mistrial in the case against Jacquees Boone and ordered Boone held without bond.
