Alabama Legislature Returns to Work Following Stall in Senate Tuesday

Montgomery, Alabama – State lawmakers get back to work today after the Senate spent Tuesday, its first full work day of the legislative session, stalled in a filibuster.

Democratic State Senator Phil Pool of Tuscaloosa stalled senate action because he was upset that lawmakers from outside Tuscaloosa County became involved in a sewer line issue in his home county.

The Senate Rules Committee had proposed several bills for consideration Tuesday, but because of Poole's stalling tactics, the measures did not come up for votes. One of the bills held up during the stalled senate action is a bill that would regulate commercial tax preparers statewide.
